A 61-year-old man was transferred to the cardiac care unit after having cardiac arrest the day after left total knee arthroplasty. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was initiated, and chest compressions, epinephrine, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium chloride were provided for 15 minutes, after which his pulse, blood pressure, and electrical rhythm were detectable. . . .
